MET ENGAGE Drop in Event at St James Church, 2 Sherriff Rd

You raised shoplifting as a concern, so here’s a quick local update.

Thank you to those who attended our MET Engage drop in event today. We enjoy meeting the public to discuss local issues and concerns from you. This is great so we can a find way on solving the current problems on WEST HAMPSTEAD WARD. We have heard clearly that shop-lifting and drug crime are some of the top concerns you are having and we will be making efforts to reduce and stamp out these crimes occurring on WEST HAMPSTEAD.

We want to thank you again for your current support and keep reporting, calling in crimes that are happening so we can act and get more action done against these offenders that are committing crimes in your away.

We will do out best efforts to keep everyone who is signed up to MET ENGAGE and also spread the word on MET ENGAGE to get more of the community singed up.

The Met is cracking down on street crime, like shoplifting, people doing drugs and phone-snatching. 

We’ve put hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals.

We’re now arresting more than 1,000 extra criminals every month and seeing ‘neighbourhood crime’ down 14%.

But we know there is more to do. That’s why we’re stepping up our use of technology, increasing our operations and working with retailers to make it less appealing for criminals to commit these crimes in the first place.

If you notice anything suspicious or witness anyone shoplifting, please report it as soon as possible. These reports are invaluable in letting us build a picture of when and where shop lifters operate, meaning we can be in the right place at the right time to arrest those responsible.
